Formed in Buffalo, NY in 1911, the Optimist Clubs have grown across North America and have migrated into sixteen countries worldwide.  As mentioned numerous times regarding the motto, "Friend of Youth," it has always been the main focus "youth."  The original motto "friend of the delinquent boy" evolved into "friend of Boy" and currently has changed to "Friend of Youth."

Currently, the Frederick optimist club continues to promote the best in youths by promoting an active interest in good Government, civic affairs and respect for law.  We need your help by joining the Frederick Optimist Club so that we can continue what we have been doing for the past sixty-two years of bringing out the best in our Frederick County youths.
