Chartered in March 1947 the Frederick Optimist Club of Frederick is Maryland's second oldest Optimist Club. We are based in the City of Frederick, Maryland. The Frederick Optimist Club works as a "Friend of Youth" in Frederick County, Maryland. Since 1986 the Frederick Optimist Club has held a yearly Talent Show to showcase the talent of our youths here in the city/county of Frederick, Maryland. In addition, during Youth Appreciation Week, the Frederick Optimist Club recognizes that the majority of today's youth are transcending as our next outstanding citizens. Further, each year our Frederick county youths are given the opportunity to speak their words in the Oratorical and Essay contests. Also, during the month of May, Law Enforcement community of Frederick County is honored by the Frederick Optimist Club by way of merging with our parent Optimist International in Respect for the law Program. So, who are the Frederick Optimist Club and what do we do? The answer is quite easy, there are numerous activities that need sponsorship and the "Friend of Youth" - Frederick Optimist Club are here to help the youths to be recognized. What Is Optimist International Formed in Buffalo, NY in 1911, the Optimist Clubs have grown across North America and have migrated into sixteen countries worldwide. As mentioned numerous times regarding the motto, "Friend of Youth," it has always been the main focus "youth." The original motto "friend of the delinquent boy" evolved into "friend of Boy" and currently has changed to "Friend of Youth." Currently, the Frederick optimist club continues to promote the best in youths by promoting an active interest in good Government, civic affairs and respect for law. We need your help by joining the Frederick Optimist Club so that we can continue what we have been doing for the past sixty-two years of bringing out the best in our Frederick County youths. |

To develop Optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed: - To promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs
- To inspire respect for law
- To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people
- To aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that giving of one's self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world
